I recently underwent this procedure. I took an antibiotic called Levaquin about an hour before the biopsy. A local anesthetic was administered and 12 tissue samples were taken. The procedure was more annoying than painful. The entire visit took about an hour. I experienced a bit of discomfort over the next several hours which was greatly eased by taking Tylenol. I slept well that night and there was no pain the following day.
