What are the symptoms of a swollen prostate glad?
The prostate is a small, but important organ (or gland) found only in the male reproductive system. Its main role is to make fluid that protects and feeds sperm. The prostate makes about half of the fluid ejaculated from the penis when orgasm happens.
In young men, the prostate is about the size of a walnut (20g) and gets bigger as men get older. It sits underneath the bladder and surrounds the top part of the urethra, the tube which urine passes through on its way from the bladder to the penis. The growth of the prostate relies on testosterone (male sex hormone). If the prostate grows too large, it can slow or stop the flow of urine. As the prostate is located near the rectum (back passage), growth of the prostate can be checked by a rectal examination where a doctor places a gloved finger into the rectum.

How is prostate cancer treated ?
About 3 weeks ago my husband had a horrible pain in his lower abdomin . He went to the doctor and they said his prostate was swollen but that he is too young to have prostate problems. He also had a uriary tract infection. So they put him on antibiotics and ran all kinds of test. I am worried that it might be something bad because he had stomach cancer about 3 years ago. I feel like i am losing my mind worrying I have heard horrible things about prostate cancer . He is still in some pain , so it has'nt went away in 3 weeks . Does anyone know what the symptoms or the treatment is for prostate cancer ?
I had prostate cancer in 2005… there was no bad pain. Just a dull pain when I sat too much or too long.. and I had to urinate lots at night… that was it.. I had Proton Radiation treatments at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda California and am fine now.. Proton Radiation is very different than conventional radiation.. Proton Radiation has no side effects and a 90% cure rate.. I believe it is the very best treatment available today for prostate cancer… There is a web site that is called PROTON BOB that tells all about prostate cancer and proton radiation.. If you go to the website be sure and read the Patient Testimonial section and you will see what former prostate cancer patients think of Proton Radiation.. we are all sold on it and why not … never sick during or after treatments, no side effects after treatments and a 90% cure rate.. I dont know why any one would even consider the other treatments… It like I was never sick, never had cancer and am cured… There is also a book just recently written by Robert J. Also your husband should have a PSA test and if the PSA numbers have gone up since his last test he should have a biopsy….even if the PSA # is within satisfactory ranges.. if it has gone up since his last PSA test get a biopsy done.. I met men with PSAs in the 2s that had prostate cancer when i was getting my treatments.. thats how their doctor caught it.. just an upward tick.. and thats how to catch it early..Also remember if he has it.. that PROTON RADIATION is much different than conventional beam radiation.. Protton Radiation has no side effects.. It doesnt effect the other organs in your body.. you are not incontent or impotent after Proton radiation.. like I said no side effects.
